The locals are a friendly lot, and will go out of their way to help with directions. English is in little use, but many of the younger generation will answer: "poco" when asked if they speak English. It´s this positive attitude which makes Santa Marta and Magdelena, Colombia such an enjoyable place to visit, and increasingly, to invest.
